Digital Security firm Cyren has issued a warning about a glut of spam victims. Users are receiving fake emails resembling several banks like Emirates NDB and Singapore bank DBS. The emails include double extension files as in a .pdf.exe and when clicked installs malware in the windows startup folder. Everytime the computer is run a keylogger and mouse tracker are executed by the malware itself. This must be an old version revived as it also looks for crypto-currency wallets to steal. The list is a throwback to the coinscape from back when we started this show in 2013.

Xapo received “conditional approval” from the Swiss government to at as a financial go-between with regards to its wallet service. This is a noteworthy milestone as Xapo was spared from having to secure a banking license and deal with the red tape. More wallet businesses may look to make Switzerland home if this deal works out well.
Perhaps along a related note Xapo’s Know Your Customer policies have been causing some outrage. Apparently they have recently introduced a 6 step KYC process for even simple tasks like withdrawing bitcoins from your wallet.
Currently the hardware can only support T-addresses for Zcash due to the limitations of the device given the requirements of Z-addresses.
The Bitcoin Unlimited blocks are being mined more frequently driving past 20% of the last 1000 according to NodeCounter. SegWit is sitting at around 23%. More recently a bug within the BU clients caused an unintentional hard fork by creating a block just slightly over 1 MB.
After a failed merger with Canadian company SecureCom Bitcache is being delayed. Kim is still hyping it up and telling folks that if they don’t have some bitcoin to “go get some” because Megaupload 2 with Bitcache is going to be a game changer. We have yet to see any real data to back this up.
This episode does a great job examining the cash crunch in India. I suggest you watch the video for yourself but the cliff notes suggest that the Obama administration was a big player as well as Master Card, Visa, USAID, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation among others. The end game is a full digitization of of the economy with the ultimate removal of cash and instead relying on biometric identification. Factor in an effort to collect fingerprints and iris scans of all 1.28 billion residents of India. What could be so bad about that?
